A Day in the Life - Foodies Festival & Charlotte Tilbury

Foodies Festival
Last weekend marked the last Bank Holiday here in the UK before Christmas.  The sun was shining; everyone was in a good mood so what better way to spend my time than attending a food festival in London with one of my best friends...

Described as the UK’s biggest celebration of food, drink and wellbeing, Foodies Festival is held at 10 different locations.  We headed to the festival at Alexandra Palace in North London.  I hadn’t known much about the festival before going, so did not really know what to expect. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, in terms of how many stalls there were and all the different things to do.  They had a theatre area where top chefs held cooking demonstrations and shared their tips with the audience; there was a healthy living area where festival-goers could try out yoga and meditation, a vintage tea tent and even a stage with live music performances throughout the day.

One thing I did expect was that there would be a lot of samples of all the food and drink on offer, but this was not the case.  You pretty much had to buy a portion to try anything, and when you are full after one portion at a food festival, you end up a little lost at what to do next.  We did however have a mouth-wateringly delicious sample of some feta cheese. (Oh my soul, it was the BEST ever)

After having a wander around all the stalls, we spent the rest of our time enjoying PiƱa Coladas out of pineapples, eating Mac to the Future's Mac and Cheese, and building our own cheesecakes at the Pleesecakes stall - who knew two painter and decorators from London making personalised cheesecakes would be such an appealing idea? After spending a couple of hours at the food festival, we decided to get the tube to Covent Garden to visit the Charlotte Tilbury Boutique. I was so happy to get my hands on one of her liquid lipsticks. I chose the shade Show Girl as I had a hair appointment scheduled to go back to very dark brown hair and knew it would suit my new style! I’ve really grown to love Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup over the past few months and do keep an eye out for a review post very very soon! We took some typical tourist photos before heading home to watch horror films and eat Domino’s; it was Bank Holiday after all!

I really enjoyed Foodies Festival but do think if I was going to go to a food festival again, I'd probably go to one closer to home. I don't live too far from London, but I wouldn't consider Ally Pally to be the easiest venue to get to. I went to an autumnal food fair near me a few years back and that was lovely!

Have you been to any food festivals? What delicious eats did you find?

Thanks for stopping by,

  3. i NEED to go to this festival! as a self confessed lover of literally every single type of food EVER, i really gotta get my act together and go to this next year!

i've been to a few country shows before, always mainly for the food than the animals so a foodie fest is definitely something i'd freakin' LOVE.
