Bali Body Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse

After the success of their first self tan launch earlier this year, Bali Body saw the demand for a darker shade and have created their new Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse. Keep reading to hear my thoughts on this new addition to their range...

Packaging & Details

I adore the packaging of Bali Body's Self Tan range, and their new product's is just the same as their original self tan - the bottle is a matte pink-toned beige with simple black text. It is easy to differentiate between the two shades with a band around the top of the bottle - white with black writing for the original shade and black with white writing for the new ultra dark mousse.

The Bali Body Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse is priced at £26.95 (plus free shipping!) for 200ml, and it is both cruelty free and suitable for vegans!

Key Ingredients

The Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse is packed full of natural skin-loving ingredients:

  • Chamomile extract has anti-inflammatory benefits and helps to soothe the skin
  • Coffee seed extract boosts collagen production, improves skin texture and makes your skin brighter, perfect for that golden glow!
  • Pomegranate extract helps to regenerate and rejuvenate the skin for a healthier, youthful complexion
  • Coconut oil hydrates, protects and nourishes the skin

As with their original self tan mousse, it is best to moisturise your wrists, elbows, knees and ankles before applying and then use Bali Body's velvety soft tanning mitt to apply the product. The product goes on so easily and due to the mousse being tinted, you can see exactly where you have applied and where needs a little more blending! The product dries quickly in to the skin and has a very fresh, citrus scent so none of that biscuit-y self tan smell we all know and hate!

Developing Time

Bali Body advise to leave the product on for 4 hours for a medium tan and 8 hours for a deeper tan. I let the product develop for 4 hours to achieve the look in my "after" photo below. This was taken post-showering and not whilst the product was developing.

Bali Body Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse before and after

As it’s gotten pretty cold here lately, my skin has become so dry and I was worried about the fake tan clinging to, and emphasising, the drier patches. Fortunately, this didn't happen and I was left with a flawless, streak-free tan! The colour guide technology means the Bali Body Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse adjusts to your skintone, and the green base means it won't go orange, leaving you with a deep, golden tan! I love that the self tan helped to even out my blotchy skintone, especially on my chest and legs where I suffer with this the most in Winter.

For the purpose of this review, I tested the Bali Body Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse on my face too! However I did find it emphasised my pores, and I much prefer to use the Bali Body Face Tan Water as this is specially formulated as a skincare product.

Final Thoughts

I love the Bali Body tanning mousse and it is such a great product, however I do think I will use this new Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse more in summer, when I already have a natural tan to my skin. I did find the new shade a little too dark for me at this time of year (when I am ghostly pale!) and think I will continue to use the original shade until I've been able to get a little sunshine to my skin in 2020!

This product would be perfect for anyone who desires a gorgeous, deeper tan! It has a streak-free and flawless finish, and it lasts about 5-6 days and fades evenly, so you don't need to worry about it going patchy!

If you would like to purchase the new Bali Body Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse, you can do so here! I would also recommend picking up one of their Luxe Tanning Mitts and a bottle of their Face Tan Water!
