Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask Review

I love a clay face mask, and after seeing the incredible results of the Sand&Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask all over my Facebook newsfeed, I knew I had to give it a go. I've been looking for a mask that would reduce my pores and give me a more even, brighter complexion. When Cult Beauty had a 20% off everything promotion, I knew it was time to treat myself. Keep reading to find out if it worked for me...

Packaging

The face mask comes in a no fuss, matte bright pink pot with white text. There is nothing worse than being half way through a product and it drying out, so to avoid this the mask also comes with a secondary internal lid that fits securely to the pot to prevent any air getting in. A little brush for application is also included and has it's own little sleeve to keep it clean and compact.

The Details

At just under £40.00 for 60g, the Sand&Sky Pink Clay Mask is more expensive than the Body Shop masks I am used to (£11 for 110g), however I try to not be put off by the price of something, as I believe a lot of the time with skincare and makeup, you pay for quality.
The mask is available to buy from Cult Beauty, who often offer a cheeky discount, so keep an eye out for one if you would like to give this a go!

Key Ingredients

Whilst I am no expert, I love to find out more about what is in my skincare products and the benefits each product can have on my skin!

  • Pink Australian Clay is key in deeply cleansing the skin, drawing out impurities and tightening pores. It is the ultimate detox for the skin that Sand & Sky call their magic ingredient!
  • Witch Hazel tightens pores and fights acne whilst having anti-inflammatory benefits. It was one of the first skincare heroes I learnt about as a teenager and I've always seen great results with any witch hazel products I have tried.
  • Organic Liquorice and Old Mans Weed help to regenerate skin cells and tackle discolouration on the skin
  • Pomegranate helps to reduce the appearance of scars, it deeply penetrates the skin and promotes collagen production, leaving you with a youthful glow
  • Vitamin A controls oil production whilst Vitamin E tackles the effects of pollution (a dream for if you are a frequent traveller!)

Application

I am forever making the error of applying too much product on first application, so my first tip is that a little of this goes a long way! Wet the brush before applying - this helps to spread the product and really work it in to all the crevices of the skin, especially around your little nose!
The Sand & Sky mask has a lovely creamy texture that feels gentle on the skin. I don't love the smell of the mask, but I don't dislike it so much that it would put me off using it. If you have a super sensitive nose, this might not be the right product for you.
I have never really suffered too much with sensitive skin, but I imagine this might irritate those who do (you get a little tingly feeling when you apply!) however this does contain Aloe Vera which is great for soothing the skin!
I leave the mask on for 10 minutes or so, before washing off. Whilst you can just wash off with water, I prefer to use a face cloth and hot water and gently remove the mask.

Results

After rinsing, my skin feels super soft and my more oily areas look matte, yet radiant; a glow-from-within type vibe. I was worried at first that my skin would feel dry and tight, but instead it always feels clean and fresh.
I noticed a visible difference after the first time of using this. At first, I thought it was psychological but once I had others comment on how good my skin looked, I knew I was on to a winner.
I have used this quite a few times, and I love it! It soaks up any excess oil, without drying out the skin. My pores appear visibly smaller and more refined (it does what it says on the tin!) and I even noticed a difference in the evenness of my skin tone. My complexion looks more invigorated and youthful, what more could I ask for?

Final Thoughts

Whilst the Sand & Sky mask won't solve all of your skincare concerns, it will help you on your way to a brighter, clearer complexion. I have combination skin; an oily t-zone and dry edges. With continued use, I've noticed a huge difference in the oil levels of my skin and how much more balanced they are, as well as a difference to the pores on my nose and the texture issues of my skin.
It is recommended to use the Sand & Sky mask 2-3 times a week, but I've found using it once as part of my Sunday Skincare routine, sets me up for the week ahead. This is also a dream for using after a flight as it draws out any toxins and excess oil.

I prefer to use this at night, then applying a nice hydrating moisturiser, and waking up the next day with gorgeous, fresh skin. However using it in the morning also has amazing benefits. Foundation applies like a dream and makeup lasts all day. I try not to use too much powder on my face, and I've found that using the mask beforehand reduces the need to blot my t-zone throughout the day.  This should be in everyone's skincare routine for a big event (I used this on the morning of my brother's wedding to ensure my skin looked and felt great throughout the day!)

The hype I had seen on my newsfeed is real, and I have been recommending this to so many people as it really is brilliant and excellent value too! The Sand & Sky mask has given me a new skin confidence especially when it comes to my hormonal skin concerns, and has become my new favourite clay mask that I can't wait to repurchase!
