5 Things That Will Make Traveling More Enjoyable

Who doesn't love getting the chance to explore and experience all that a new destination has to offer? I know I sure do, however the journey there can sometimes be a little less of a positive experience! It can be stressful, crowded, uncomfortable and tiring. Whilst reaching your destination makes it all worth it in the end, there are things that you can do to try and make your travelling experience a lot more enjoyable...

Set Off Early...

Setting off earlier may mean that you are travelling for longer, but it also means that you won’t need to rush anywhere. If you are catching a flight, then you will be able to take your time going through security and get to your gate within plenty of time (nobody enjoys that last minute dash to the plane!). If you are getting a train or a coach, you will have plenty of time to find the platform or the stop. Doing this will make the trip much less stressful and you won’t wear yourself out by having to run with all your luggage!

Charge Your Devices...

Instead of thinking of travelling as wasted time, make use of that time. If you have a laptop, tablet or phone, make sure that it is charged up and loaded with things that you like to do. You could use this time to catch up with TV shows and movies that you have wanted to see. If you are travelling with others, you could bring games to play (we love a bit of Nintendo Switch on a flight!). You could even read, write or draw; anything that will help you to pass the time. If I am travelling alone, I tend to bring my laptop so I can do some work, and I can't be without my phone and Spotify!

Wear Comfortable Clothing...

There is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in what you are wearing when you are travelling. It is not a time where you need to be fashionable; instead, you need to be practical. Make sure that you wear layers that you can easily put on or take off and that you have a warm jacket or hoodie. You never know what the temperature of public transport is going to be, and aeroplanes can vary from hot to cold throughout the plane. My go to tends to be a loose t-shirt, leggings, a cosy hoodie and comfortable worn-in trainers! If you are travelling via plane, I'd also recommend wearing minimal makeup! On a long haul flight, take advantage of the time and use some of your skincare essentials during the flight.

Bring Food and Drink...

Food and drink are always essential when you are travelling. You might not know when you are going to get your next meal, and if there is somewhere to get food, it might be expensive. When you are flying, you can’t take a full bottle of water through security, but you can take an empty bottle through and fill it up when you get to the other side, airports mostly have a refill area! I like to pack a few snacks with me; a bag of crisps, a couple of satsumas, a nakd bar, just to keep me going until I can have a proper meal!

Pre-book Things for When You Arrive at Your Destination...

Some people leave it until they get to their destination to find or book their accommodation, I am not one of those people! Whether you prefer 4 star hotels, hostels or apartments, do your research beforehand and make sure you book one before you get there. Save even more stress by looking up the best transport options for when you arrive; hotel transfers, trains, taxis, you can do a quick Google search or use a website like Rome2Rio to plan the last leg of your journey!

I hope this helps, and thanks for stopping by!

  2. I'd like to add booking your trip early as one also (which is something my husband seriously has problems with)!
